What is a Angel Investor

An angel investor (also known as a private investor, seed investor or angel funder) is an individual who provides financial backing for small startups or pre-revenue companies, typically in exchange for ownership equity in the company.

These types of investments are risky and usually do not represent more than 10% of the angel investor's portfolio.

Angel investors are normally individuals who are accredited (having a net worth of 1 million dollars or who has earned 200k for two consecutive years) status but this isn’t a prerequisite.

Angel investors typically use their own money, unlike venture capitalists who take care of pooled money from many other investors and place them in a strategically managed fund.
